Due to a series of acquisitions, this mobile tower management company had a diverse range of equipment in their mobile towers, and needed a centralised process for collecting and analysing data. The towers were often in remote locations, with limited connectivity.
Working with the IoT device vendors, a custom solution was developed to allow the IoT devices to send MQTT data to a central platform for analytics. Data collection services were deployed on AWS, and the MQTT data was collected and stored to a data lake using Kafka and Databricks.
The solution provided a standardised approach to IoT data collection and analysis, and allowed the company to gain valuable insights into the performance of their mobile towers. The solution was integrated with the existing infrastructure, and was able to cope with the limited connectivity of the remote towers.
